Tips for Writing Your LOVE WINS Story
|
| 1. |
Keep it REAL! Tell a memorable true story about an event that you personally experienced, or that has happened to someone you know. |
| 2. |
Keep it MOVING! Introduce us to all the people who have parts to play in your story, and tell it in a way that gets us emotionally involved in the action. Make us laugh. Make us cry. Make us care. |
| 3. |
Tell it ALL! The story should get us hooked from the beginning with an action, an interesting problem, somebody with an issue, or people caught up in a serious situation. |
| 4. |
Let the people TALK! Write the way people talk, with real dialogue and characters that express real feelings through their struggles and situations. |
| 5. |
End with a NEW BEGINNING! Your story should end with a transformative action or experience. Leave us with something to believe in or reflect on. |
| 6. |
Remember, this is YOUR story, YOUR heart, YOUR triumph, YOUR LOVE! |
|
|
| A LOVE WINS Story is NEVER: |
| 1. |
An intimate reflection that only you and your sister or brother or best friend could care about or understand: i.e. “Why Aunt Annie Makes the Best Fried Chicken in Cyrus County”. |
| 2. |
A chatty letter or a page out of a personal diary. |
| 3. |
A political diatribe or an inflammatory speech. |
| 4. |
A lecture, oration or a sermon. This is not a chance to preach or teach, it’s an opportunity to share. |
