What is Love?
Defining love in a consumer society is tough. Some think love is a commodity that can be bought and sold - or auctioned off to the highest bidder. Others know intuitively that our very essence is love, no matter how much our materially obsessed bling-bling culture tries to dissuade us of this transcendent truth. For many who aspire to a divine ideal – love with no strings or guarantees – to love is an act of faith. This attitude is the foundation upon which the LOVE WINS concept is built.
The Power of “LOVE WINS”
This enlightened view of love resonates with me personally, because I go way back to those wise old folk I was raised around for my definition of love. Since their roots were deep in the tradition and glory of the Black church, these folk took their cue from the Good Book. And in that book can be found the deepest definition of love I’ve ever read:

| Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. |

| These words from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 describe what we call the 16 Love Attitudes. It is our belief that the greatest power known to man is that of unconditional love. Unconditional love is an unlimited way of being. It invites us to experience a divinely directed energy that lifts us to a state of transcendence rising above any and all obstacles. When the 16 Love Attitudes are lived and breathed every day, our lives are transformed into one continuous adventure of full and free expression of love and service that leads to personal triumph. LOVE WINS is more than a book, more than a collection of true stories. It is a commitment that has the capacity to focus the collective power and energy of our unconditional love – into a blazing, shining light of the service available to transform our world.
In a time of shrinking natural resources, global warming and the daily violent reminders of man’s inhumanity to man, we sometimes get stuck in the possibility of catastrophic endings. That is why it’s important to remember there are always new beginnings and that two words can free us of all the weight and pain in life:
